Voltage Dangers
10/01/2018 - 10:52
I've read that there are some voltage incompatibilities with the Pier Solar cartridges and the consoles. These incompatibilities diminish the lifespan of the MegaDrive/Genesis and of the game.
The problem is described in greater detail here:
https://db-electronics.ca/2017/07/05/the-dangers-of-3-3v-flash-in-retro-consoles/

Will the Paprium cartridges have the same problem?

Also, does anyone know if all the versions of Pier Solar are affected by this problem? Or are the later reprints safe to use? I know that the last reprint had incompatibilities with some versions of the console, but don't know if this is related with voltage mismatch or not.

EDIT: Just saw a post related to this question here:

Sorry for double posting.

The incompatibility issues were due to the pre-tmss and tmss versions of the genesis. The tmss(trademark security screen) was implemented to prevent games without Sega's seal of approval to not work. So for a indie game to work on a genesis you would need a non tmss genesis. As for the heating issues I'm looking into this As well and I will be sure to reply to this thread on my findings. Cheers
