Pier Solar (Gen) in 480i?

Hey there, people. I'm looking for help on something that most likely no one but the actual original developers of the game can help with. If possible, I'd like to get my hands on some Game Genie codes that would make the Genesis version of Pier Solar output video in 480i rather than 240p.

This is a pretty complicated subject. The guys at HD Retrovision discovered the ability to do this with both the SNES and Genesis. They did blog posts about the subject. The first one is here and is about their original methods for the SNES:

And here is their follow-up to do it with the Genesis:

Along with that, they made a video tutorial on how to do it:

I'm hoping some of the developers of the game can look at this stuff and see if it's possible for Pier Solar, and if so, what Game Genie codes would be necessary. This isn't really something I can tackle on my own, since it requires looking at the actual rom and stuff.

There are two reasons I'm wanting to do this.

1. My HD television disables scaling options when in 240p. Basically, it forces 240p into a stretched 16:9 mode. I hate that. Anything in 480i, I can use my tv's scaling settings to set it to proper 4:3. This isn't a huge problem, because I can play the Genesis on an old CRT television instead. Still, it'd be really nice to be able to play it on my 40" LCD.

2. My capture card (Geniatech HD Cap Express) does not work with 240p over component. I'm using one of HD Retrovision's Genesis component cables, which takes the RGB of the Genesis and converts it to component. Go to the main site of those blog posts to learn about them. I'd really like to stream the playing of this game. And maybe even learn to speedrun it eventually. I'd really like to be able to get a good quality picture to capture with. As it is now, I'd have to get a new capture card, or get a component to HDMI converter box. I don't really have the money to do either of these things currently. I could use composite or S-Video, but I'd really rather not. I want RGB/component from the Genesis.

So, there you go. There's my conundrum. I hope one of the developers can get a chance to look at this stuff and see whether it's doable. Thanks for your time.

Hi mate, I guess it's not possible cause PS is a 64mb cart and isn't compatible with game genie at all so no code it's possible to do the thing you want, thanks for the links I´m looking at this now to play my snes on 480i best wishes

Are you sure about that? I guess it's possible, due to how the ROM bank switching and/or memory mapping might be different. I don't know enough about this stuff to be sure. Also, there are all these: https://gamehacking.org/?game=113024&hacker=Helder&format=genie
